Flash Love helps teens help others – with a twist

In late August, a group of 55 Realtors, loan officers and other adults came together to help an elderly woman get control of her overgrown outdoor living space, which included blackberries and bushes in some places up to the roofline, Ivanov said. Evergreen Home Loans sponsored the event and paid for the costs associated with the project.

Local movement shows youth leadership and service

VANCOUVER — A group of approximately 20 teenage youth stormed the porches and front doors of local houses, loudly running through neighborhoods and apartment complexes. These youth were not out to make trouble, but rather bring Christmas cheer and excitement to neighborhoods and deliver Christmas trees to families that could not afford them.

Sarah Akey and Mila Vorobey, two single mothers, were the grateful recipients of used vehicles in great working condition after their vehicles failed them.

Bits ‘n’ Pieces: Flash Love a blitz of good deeds

One day in early November, a flash mob arrived on Vancouver’s West 23rd Street. But they didn’t swarm John Ball Park, or shoplift en masse, or do any of the other pointless or mischievous things flash mobs have become notorious for doing these days.

What they did was clean up the neighborhood. “It was all very well-organized, efficient and they seemed to have fun doing the job.

Spartan Challenge logs a new path to fund youth programs

Andrey Ivanov has a good problem. The success of his Flash Love effort getting local youth to help their community was significant. That led to him creating the Spartan Challenge, primarily focused on giving young men some discipline, self confidence, and purpose. Four classes later, parents and families are urging him to expand the program.

Andrey Ivanov, co-founder of Flash Love, shares how empowering and raising

Andrey has a passion to restore communities by harnessing the free time and creative energy of young people. While many condemn young people for being destructive or rebellious, Andrey Ivanov discovered that many teens act out because they do not have true leaders or mentors holding them to high standards. Young people want to make an impact but often lack the opportunity or guidance.
